Based
at the Cooper Reading BMW dealership from 1991-2006, the Cooper
Bike Training 'Born-Again' Course when
introduced was probably unique
in the UK!
It was developed for two types of rider:
- Those considering returning to motorcycling
after a long interval (the 'record' is 41 years!) for whom we place emphasis on
long-forgotten (or possibly never-learned!) skills
- Riders who have recently obtained a
full, unlimited license by Direct Access training but wish to gain more confidence with a
larger, heavier machine, perhaps before taking test rides and purchasing their own
machine
However, from October
2006 Cooper Reading BMW will no longer sell motorcycles, so we are unable
to offer the loan motorcycles for courses.
We will instead be
offering the same level of training and experience if you have your own
bike, and are exploring options for a range of sites across the area.
Content includes:
- Controls, parking and use of stands;
- Slow-speed control;
- Machine handling and steering techniques;
- Supervised road ride (if time allows);
- Reminder sheets and information pack.
The session will improve both your confidence and competence, and will include techniques not included in
current learner-level training.

What they
said:
'Worth the course fee just to learn that.'
'I didn't realise there was so much I didn't
know.'
'I still don't believe it - but it works.
"Great day - Great training - Great idea."
What they wrote:
'Excellent techniques which I look forward to
putting into practice. Why courses designed to get folks through their test don't employ these techniques quite escapes me!'
'More than I'd hoped for! It was
something special.'
'Your words of wisdom have made this trip easier and safer. 4000km into the trip and I'm
less of a liability now.' (Postcard from New Zealand)
'The day was brilliant. I don't know what was best - the laughs or the instruction! - and
I appreciated everything I was told.'
In print:
From BMWcar; Oct.1995:
'Both expert riders and dedicated
enthusiasts, Brian White and Malcolm
Palmer make learning the art of safe
biking great fun.'
